Carmel Jyothi is a study house of Carmelite Fathers which has been in Bangalore since 1987. It is situated in Bannerghatta Road between Kalena Agrahara and Gottigere opposite Himagiri Meadows. The campus with three and half acres of land is maintained as a garden filled with fruit trees and flowers that has direct access from the main road. Carmel Academy is an initiative of Carmelite fathers managed by Carmel Jyothi Trust headed by Carmelite Fathers.
Carmel Jyoti Trust has contributed significantly to the overall development of the spiritual, social and educational needs of the local community and established Carmel Academy as its new venture.
The Carmel Jyothi Trust has a critical and key role to play:
Providing a good and healthy ambience to the school to fulfill its aims and objectives.
To enable the school to give quality education and be a centre for educational excellence.
To achieve these aims and objectives, the roles and responsibilities of the Trust are:
It does ensure that the school gets proper land, building, infrastructure, furniture and qualified staff as per the norms of the Board.
It does ensure that the school is run as a community service and not as a business purpose and that commercialization does not take place in the school in any aspect whatsoever.
It does ensure that funds accruing for the school are spent for the benefit of the school and its development.
It does safeguard the directives laid down by the management.
It does have control over the school management committee and shall approve the budget/ tuition fees and annual charges, etc. for the school.
It does have control over the capital expenditure, i.e., on land and construction of the building, its expansion and procurement of major equipments for the school.
It does generate funds for the needs of the school whether it is recurring or non-recurring.
It does ensure that the school has the basic essential facilities such as Laboratory equipment, equipment for games and sports and other co- curricular activities, Library books, etc.
It does have the powers to constitute selection committee/ Deparmental Promotion Committees for various categories of staff.
It does have the powers to lay down conditions of service as per the norms of the board, to approve promotion/ appointment /termination of the employees and to grant special increments or rewards to the staff.
It does ensure that the school is running as per the provisions of the Education Act/ affiliation norms, and shall be committed to provide quality education to the children for which, necessary steps shall be taken as per its needs as and when required.
